Ajay: Your dad mentioned you were planning to apply to this prestigious college. Hows the exam preparations coming along?
Cousin: Im actually thinking of dropping it. I doubt if I would crack it.
Ajay: Im sure you are going to crack it. You are a brilliant girl!
Cousin: But what if Im not as good as the other students there? The pressure is too much. Im thinking I should settle for something less.
Ajay: Hmm What was the biggest business news you read lately?
Cousin: Off the top of my head, Elon Musk buying Twitter.
Ajay: Right. And if you ask what my takeaway from that news is, its dream big.
Cousin: Whats your point?
Ajay: Well, they say dream for the stars so that you land on the moon at least. But didnt Musk aim for Mars and make Mars itself a reality? And did he stop at that? So why do you think you have to settle for something else?
Cousin: But not everybody can become Elon Musk right?
Ajay: Definitely not those who decide to settle for something less. Musk himself wouldnt have become what he is now had he decided to give up when he was bullied at school or when things were looking bad for Tesla and SpaceX at a point of time.
Cousin: Hmm.. I get what you are saying.
Ajay: Good. Because in an age when great entrepreneurs like him are exhorting the world to dream big through their actions, it might be a disservice to do to yourself by thinking to settle for less. There might be times when you feel pressured, I dont deny that. But we all are there for you.
Cousin: Thank you. Im definitely going to take the test.
Ajay: Great! Im sure you are going to make it big someday. And when you do, do remember that what you do with the money is important. Because money would come and go, what really would leave a mark is how you utilise it for the betterment of not just yourself, but also of the world.
