Ajay: Hey, how’s the business going?
Murtuza : What to say Ajay, I had so many hopes and dreams when I started up early last year. But then the pandemic struck and now the business is struggling to stay afloat. I’m thinking of shutting it down and taking up a job. Would you have some role for me or refer me to someone?
Ajay: Of Course! But are you sure that’s what you want to do? You might be in choppy waters now, but I’m sure great heights await you if you successfully tide over them. Trust me, no job can be as rewarding as being an entrepreneur.
Murtuza : I’m sure. But there’s so much happening around us and managing a business amid all that sometimes seems overwhelming.
Ajay: Your answer is in what you said just now. There’s so much happening around us. All you need to do is to tweak your business to make gains from whatever is happening around you.
Murtuza : How?
Ajay: I was reading this article which talks about how Black-owned bookstores saw sales shooting up after the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement. Who knew a cause like that would benefit businesses! So you see, there’s a business opportunity in even the seemingly unlikely ones. Small shops who went out of business during the lockdown started selling masks to stay afloat. Restaurants which would have otherwise shut shop started offering takeaways and got listed on food delivery platforms. Every crisis, every cause, every development is an opportunity for an entrepreneur, my friend. Your success would totally depend on how agile you are and how quickly you can spot the diamond in the rough. So, why don’t you give it a try?
